COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ann Arbor-based Michigan carries the No. 1 ranking and a perfect 7-0 record into its first Big Ten weekend, a two-game set at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
The puck drops at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Schottenstein Center. The opener streams on B1G+ and the Sunday game is on Big Ten Network.
The Wolverines got to 7-0 with a 3-2 home win last Friday over then-No. 5 Western Michigan, decided when Will Horcoff scored with 0.1 seconds left. It is the first time in program history that Michigan has opened with seven straight wins in consecutive seasons.
Nobody in the country is scoring more. Michigan has 39 goals in seven games, and senior Jayden Perron leads all skaters nationally with 10 goals and 16 points. Junior Michael Hage tops the nation with 11 assists, and sophomore goalie Jack Ivankovic owns a .933 save percentage.
Ohio State comes in at 2-4 after Augustana beat the Buckeyes twice in Columbus last weekend, 3-2 in overtime and 4-3. Michigan has won six in a row in the rivalry and leads the all-time series 103-53-16.
This is the fourth time the Buckeyes have started their league schedule against Michigan. After this weekend, Ohio State is off before a road trip to No. 2 Wisconsin on Nov. 13-14.
