ANN ARBOR, Mich. — More than 100 artists lined Main Street between William and Washington streets Saturday and Sunday for A2 Artoberfest, a juried fall art fair in downtown Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Guild of Artists and Artisans, which also runs the July Ann Arbor Art Fair, organized the weekend event. Tents showcased paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, woodwork and jewelry, with artists traveling from across Michigan and as far as Florida and Rhode Island.
Hours ran 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission was free. The schedule included family art-making activities, live entertainment and street-chalk demonstrations, plus snacks and drinks for sale.
Crowds were smaller than the summer Art Fair, but the footprint still filled the Main Street corridor that anchors downtown shopping and campus visitors. Ann Arbor’s civic culture, shaped by the University of Michigan, helps draw families and students to events like Artoberfest.
For Ann Arbor, Mich., residents, the October fair extended the city’s art-fair calendar into the fall and gave regional makers another weekend to sell work on Main Street before colder weather.
