ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Paul Bunyan Trophy game will be played under the lights again this season. The Big Ten has set a 7:30 p.m. start for the Nov. 7 meeting between Michigan and Michigan State at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, and the game will stream on Peacock.
That makes five seasons in a row the in-state rivals have met in primetime. The conference released the time on Saturday night.
The two programs arrive in very different shape. Michigan is 5-3 overall and 2-3 in Big Ten play after a 28-21 win over Rutgers on Saturday, and the Wolverines are still chasing bowl eligibility in the first season under head coach Kyle Whittingham.
Michigan State sits at 2-6 and 0-5 in the league, carrying a six-game losing streak into the week after a bye. First-year Spartans coach Pat Fitzgerald went 1-9 against Michigan during his 17 seasons at Northwestern.
History leans toward the home team. Michigan leads the all-time series 75-38-5 and has won the last four meetings. The last Michigan State win came in 2021, a 37-33 game in East Lansing.
