ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Ann Arbor police are looking for a man who confronted several Allen Elementary School students in County Farm Park on Friday morning, threatened them and seized one child by the arm.
The Ann Arbor Police Department said the encounter happened Oct. 16 sometime from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. while the children were cutting through the park on their way to class.
The students got away, went to a parent and told what happened, and the parent dialed 911. Officers searched the park and the surrounding neighborhood but did not find the man.
Detectives are now interviewing the children and their families to build a fuller description. Police are asking people who live near the park to check home security video from that window of time for anything unusual.
Patrols near the school have been stepped up, with officers focusing on school crossings before and after classes. Police praised the students for leaving right away and alerting a trusted adult.
Tips can go to the department at 734-794-6920, to [email protected], or anonymously through Silent Witness. Any charges would be reviewed by the Washtenaw County prosecutor’s office.
