Police in Ann Arbor, Michigan, are investigating phoned-in bomb threats made Monday afternoon against two Ann Arbor Public Schools buildings, Slauson Middle School and Ann Arbor Open, a K-8 school. Officers searched and found nothing suspicious, and police said both threats were judged not credible.
Ann Arbor police officers responded to Slauson shortly after 3 p.m. Classes had already ended for the day when officers arrived, but students and staff still inside the building were evacuated as a precaution while officers searched the school. No explosive device or anything suspicious was found.
While officers were handling the Slauson call, police learned that Ann Arbor Open had received a similar threat at roughly the same time. Police said neither threat included specific details. Instead, each described a hypothetical scenario rather than a concrete plan.
Both threats were assessed as not credible, but the investigation remains active, and the Ann Arbor Police Department is working with Ann Arbor Public Schools to determine who made the calls.
Anyone with information about either threat is asked to call the Ann Arbor Police Department at 734-794-6920 or email [email protected]. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department’s Silent Witness program.
