ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan basketball in Ann Arbor picked up its first prep pledge under Mike Boynton Jr. on Wednesday, landing four-star guard Lucai Anderson for the 2027 class.
Anderson stands 6-foot-5 and about 190 pounds. The 247Sports composite slots him 84th overall nationally and eighth at shooting guard. He is set for a senior year at Florida’s IMG Academy after living in Lubbock while his older brother suited up for Texas Tech.
A September campus visit in Ann Arbor helped seal it. He also made official trips to Georgia Tech, Central Florida and Southern California, then announced the Wolverines choice on Instagram.
Family history loops back to Michigan. Older brother Christian Anderson Jr. once pledged to the Wolverines as a high school sophomore in 2021, later thrived at Texas Tech after Juwan Howard left, and went 18th overall to Charlotte in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The defending national champions have another exhibition Friday before tipping the regular season on Nov. 2. The program’s home remains the University of Michigan campus that employs tens of thousands in Ann Arbor.
