ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Shawarma Shop and Bakery, a Southside favorite for Lebanese food in Ann Arbor, is back in business at a roomier spot at 777 E. Eisenhower Parkway, Suite 110, inside the office tower lobby.

For years the family-run kitchen worked out of a small takeout counter beside the gas station at South State Street and East Eisenhower Parkway. That spot shut down late in 2025 as crews readied the land for Arbor South, and building owner Oxford Companies offered the restaurant room next door.

The menu still centers on shawarma made with chicken or beef, plus falafel and gyro sandwiches, bowls, plates, soups and desserts, and the larger lobby adds seats for diners who want to stay. Hours run 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, with the shop closed on weekends. Oxford, which keeps its own offices and the BrightWorks coworking space in the building, called the restaurant a key part of a more walkable Southside.

The neighboring Arbor South plan on file with the city calls for eight apartment buildings holding 229 affordable and 839 market-rate units, about 93,500 square feet of ground-floor shops and three parking decks with 2,476 spaces.
