ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham has settled on a starting quarterback for the visit from No. 6 Indiana to Ann Arbor, but he is keeping the choice to himself until the noon kickoff Saturday, Oct. 24, at Michigan Stadium.

The question is whether sophomore Bryce Underwood keeps the job or freshman Tommy Carr gets the nod after Carr took over at halftime of the win over Penn State. Michigan trailed 3-0 at the break after being held scoreless on just 80 yards through two quarters.

With Carr running the offense, the Wolverines gained 220 yards after halftime and scored three touchdowns while protecting the ball. Late in the fourth quarter, Carr kept the ball on third-and-9 and ran 12 yards for a score that put Michigan up by two possessions and kept the team from an 0-3 Big Ten start, something that last happened in 1967.

Underwood, the top recruit in the nation a year ago, was picked off twice before halftime in that game and now has five touchdown passes and six interceptions for the year. Whittingham also credited the offensive line for its best half of the year, as the Wolverines rushed for 211 yards, averaging six a carry.

Indiana arrives on a run of 31 consecutive games in which it has not lost the turnover margin, a streak the Michigan coach noted Monday.
